BRITISH BASKETBALL SCHOOLS CHALLENGE

The challenge:

In celebration of the GB Team’s participation in the Olympic Games next year, the search is on for some great school basketball-based projects. With the GB men’s and women’s teams set to be the most successful the country have ever seen, now is the time to get behind the sport and encourage children to be part of it.

What is the project?

There are a number of ways in which your school can be involved in the challenge: in the classroom, around the school or involving other schools. The suggested areas your basketball based projects could cover are:
• A cross-curriculum project
• An intra-mural competition
• Assemblies based around the sport
• An inter-school competition
• Exciting and interactive wall displays

Who can enter?

• Any primary, middle, secondary or special school in England.

Prizes:

The best projects submitted will qualify for a once in a lifetime school visit from one of the GB men’s or women’s basketball team players. This is a unique chance to have an Olympic athlete visit your classroom and meet the children to share their experiences of what playing at the top is all about.

All entrants will receive:

• FREE membership of England Basketball & Mini-Basketball England
• FREE internet resources to include an assembly pack & GB player profiles
• FREE monthly e-newsletter from GB Basketball
• FREE intra-mural competition guidelines
• FREE access to training for teachers & leaders (*conditions apply)
• FREE entry into a raffle for basketball prizes
• Feature in our fantastic Olympic 2012 email news supplement

Deadline:

School must register by Wednesday 29th February 2012.

A report with photographs and/or videos should be submitted by Friday 1st May 2012.
