On Saturday 10 September 2011, the Basketball Ireland Annual Award winners were announced in a special presentation day at the National Basketball Arena.
Among the winners was Standard Life GB women's player, Rachel Vanderwal who scooped the title, Women's SuperLeague Player of the Year. Vanderwal was given the honour following her fantastic form in this year's Basketball Ireland Superleague where she averaged 22.2points per game as leading scorer.
The award also caps off the guard's exciting few months playing for the Standard Life GB team in EuroBasket 2011 in Bydgoszcz, Poland. The women reached the second round of the competition and made history in the process.
