The Standard Life Great Britain Under-20 men beat Slovak Republic U20's 80-60 on Friday evening in Bristol in the first of two games between the nations.
GB led from the start in what was a polished performance against the Slovaks, Ali Fraser and Jesse Chuku were standouts.
"It was okay as it was our first game but it clearly highlights that to be successful this summer, we must always play hard and as a team. We must learn to compete for 40 minutes to really be a good team," commented GB U20 coach, Dave Smart.
It was a fast start from both sides with Great Britain edging it 20-15, and they increased their advantage to 34-26 at the half as the Slovak Republic struggled to contain GB's inside presence.
GB were pegged back for stages of the third, but they fought back to lead 52-43 going into the fourth quarter. It was from there that GB stamped their authority on the game, racing to win the final ten minutes 28-17 and record an easy win.
The two teams meet again on Saturday night at 20:00.
