Much has been made of the injuries that have plagued the GB camp and robbed GB Coach Griffioen of experienced players during this summer's 2012 European Championships. And while injuries have played a key role in the position Great Britain find themselves in heading into their final three games of the tournament, only a stubborn win will help them turn things around now, as they sit rooted to the bottom of Group G, one loss away from relegation.
There is reason for hope for Great Britain. In the absence of the injured, the team have found strength in Jessica Hurd, Francesca Whitby, Erin McGarrachan and Cheridene Green, all of whom have been top performers in recent losses.
And although the previous clash with Latvia ended in a GB loss, Great Britain out-rebounded the Latvians, 53-32, continuing their team dominance on the boards.
Latvia enter today's fixture with the eighth highest scorer in the tournament on their roster, in the shape of Dita Rozenberga.
Rozenberga, 19, has been in excellent form this summer, averaging 14 ppg on 47.5% shooting. She has been ably flanked of late by small forward, Sabine Dukate who, against group-toppers Italy, scored 21 points including 5-of-11 from three point range.
Tip-off at the Olah Gabor Sports Hall is scheduled for 12:45pm (UK time).
