EuroBasket 2013 Women's seedings announced

Tom Maher's side have been put in the second pot of teams for Friday's draw in Paris which should put them in a good position to at least emulate their achievement of reaching the second round in Poland last year.

Although they finished winless in the Olympics, Maher's side were competitive throughout and came agonisingly close to beating eventual silver medallists France.

Croatia, who had taken fifth place at EuroBasket Women 2011, are also in the second pot of seeds alongside Italy and the Slovak Republic who had best records in the qualification stage on July.

Reigning European champions Russia are the highest-ranked team and in the top group of seeds alongside EuroBasket 2011 silver medallists Turkey, bronze medallists France and fourth-placed Czech Republic.

Serbia, Sweden, Lithuania and Montenegro are in pot three while pot four consists of Spain, Belarus, Latvia and Ukraine.

The draw will be made in the French capital on Friday afternoon and will be broadcast live on FIBAEurope.com from 4:30pm CET.
