The Bulls narrowly lost the first two quarters so found themselves entering the locker room trailing 49-52. However, the Chicago side returned to the court fired up and scored the first 14 points of the third quarter to pull away, they maintained their healthy lead to enter the final stanza 16 points ahead. Memphis pulled back in the final 10 minutes but were unable to close the gap and grasp the win.
The Bulls played without Derrick Rose, who is still recovering from knee surgery, stemming from his torn ACL during the 2012 playoffs.
Deng will be in action again on Friday when the Bulls take on the Cleveland Cavaliers in their second preseason clash.
