The half-court variation of the game sees two teams of three players, shooting into the same basket. There is one ten minute period and a 12 second shot clock which produces a high intensity and increasingly exciting sport for both athletes and spectators. Baskets scored from inside the arc (including free-throws) are worth one point, while those scored from beyond are worth two.
The competition starts with an all eight team round robin followed by play-offs, semi-finals and a final. However, the game will finish should one team reach 21 points. If scores are equal after regular time, overtime will be played until the first team scores two points.
Head of Performance for British Basketball, Warwick Cann is in Australia, he commented: "We have settled in well with players training hard and becoming excellent team mates and representatives of Great Britain. We have now had four sessions together for the men and women and each have had a practice game which we won and played well. It's a good start."

For the first time the GB men's team has Scottish and English players combined onto one side. Warwick Cann added: "The two Scottish boys Malcolm and Gregor have already blended well with the two England players. Gregor took a knock at training yesterday but we are ready for tomorrow's tournament start. Both boys have been impressive in training and our practice game."
