Deng stepped up with a team-high 20 points to help move the Bulls into sixth place in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
Deng performed again the following day as the Bulls pulled out a 104-97 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Deng had 17 points and seven rebounds to help his side to victory. He grabbed a stunning offensive rebound towards the end of the final quarter feeding team mate Nate Robinson for a three-pointer after which the Bulls were never seriously threatened again.
Talking to the Chicago Tribune, Bulls coach Thibodeau said of Deng's play: "That's finding a way to win. We're a little disjointed right now. We have a lot of guys in and out, so it's hard to build a rhythm. But that's a big-time play.
"That, to me, is what gets overlooked with Luol all the time. People look at him not shooting the ball like he's not playing well. That's never the case with Luol because of all the other things he does on the floor."
Deng and the Bulls take on the Miami Heat tonight who are currently on a 27 game winning streak.
