"The improvement we have made over just the last four years is unbelievable. We could have qualified for the quarter finals of the competition had it not been for Serbia's win elsewhere in the group so there are only positive things coming out of our participation at the tournament. We are just going to keep moving forward every year."
At her new European team Nantes Handy is set to face GB team mate, Jo Leedham who plays for Bourges Basket, in the French League and Handy is looking forward to the match-up: "I am excited about playing against Jo. It will certainly be different playing against her rather than on her team and I'm sure it will be a lot harder challenging her than working with her."
Handy joined GB for EuroBasket Women 2013 after one of her most successful club seasons with Turkish side, Mersin. She had fantastic contributions for Mersin in both the EuroCup Women where she averaged 13.6 points per game and the domestic league where she helped her team achieve an excellent third place finish.
Despite her successes in Turkey she is looking forward to her next challenge in France: "I've always known France to be a very competitive league and I like to play competitively. In Turkey last year it was a great league to experience but when I got an offer to play in France I jumped at it.
"As GB basketball look to develop and strengthen our players, it helps when you have players in Europe so it is going to be another challenge that I am really looking forward to; Nantes are a great side."
