I was very excited to return to camp this summer. I felt we finished strong against China in the Olympics and couldn't wait to build on that.
What was it like working with the new line-up of coaching staff including Joe Prunty and Nate Reinking?
It was very refreshing having a new coaching staff, with new philosophies and mind sets they brought to the team. I felt the coaches we had this summer are exactly what the programme needed and having Nate on the staff showed that Standard Life GB truly are a family more so than just a team.
How was it being one of the more veteran players this year working with some of the younger players?
I enjoyed my role as a veteran on the team, the only downside to my role was reality setting in that I am getting older. It was a pleasure to work with so many young, hungry players and I was proud to see how quick the younger guys developed.
What was it like returning to the Olympic Park and winning in front of a sell-out crowd at the Copper Box Arena?
It was very emotional returning to the Olympic Park. All the memories of the Olympics came flooding back. It was extra special to see that the Copper Box Arena was sold out and to get that win for the fans. I hope it's not the last experience I have playing there.
Can you sum up the preparation period with the side before arriving in Slovenia?
The preparation period was a very difficult one for our squad but it was much needed. Playing against the best teams in Europe in such a short period of time taught us what level we hope to achieve in the future though it also taught us adversity and to never give up. I believe this preparation period helped us to become a solid team.
How did it feel after you secured the first EuroBasket 2013 victory?
I was very happy to get the first win at Eurobasket 2013 against Israel especially because we showed that 'never give up' attitude. Though, I expected us to win and was already focusing on the next game.
How was the EuroBasket 2013 campaign overall?
The EuroBasket 2013 campaign was a very positive one. We moulded into a team in such a short period of time with a lot of inexperienced guys. Though, I believe with a little more consistency we could have made the second round.
What's next for you?
I'm happy to have signed at Lukoil Akademik in Bulgaria. I'm excited to be playing in the EuroCup again and competing for championships domestically.
Message to the fans…
