Guy Goodes - Assistant Coach

From: Haifa (Israel)

Guy Goodes joins Joe Prunty's staff as lead assistant in 2013, bringing a wealth of experience of European basketball as both a player and coach. A former Israeli international, he played in two EuroBaskets (1995 and 1999), and has also worked as a coach with his home country's Under-20 team.

His professional debut came at the age of 15 with Hapoel Haifa but he spent much of his playing career as a point guard for Maccabi Tel Aviv, helping the club to seven league championships and three national cups in his native land, as well as earning All Star status. In 1991, he played in the Euroleague's Final Four in Paris.

He also ventured overseas to join Spanish side Cantabria and Italian club Roseto before eventually ending his playing days back in Israel in 2002 with Hapoel Tel Aviv, following a series of knee injuries which forced him into retirement at the age of 31.

His coaching odyssey began in 2004 with a two-year spell at Maccabi Rishon before he returned to Maccabi Tel Aviv as an assistant in 2006, helping them to another Israeli League title. From 2008-10, he served as the head coach of Hapoel Jerusalem before resuming his association with Maccabi Tel Aviv as number two to David Blatt, who led Russia to Olympic bronze at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
