Having represented England at junior and Under-18 level, Handy made her Great Britain senior debut in 2007 against Norway, contributing to the successful promotion push into Division A. Handy was part of the Great Britain Futures team at the 2009 World University Games, where she averaged 11 points and 7.6 rebounds across seven games, including a team-high 25 points in a victory over Slovakia. She also led the Futures team in scoring at the 2011 World University Games in China. A starter at the 2011 EuroBasket Women Finals in Lithuania, she grabbed 10 points and 5 rebounds in the team’s win against Israel.

Earning a scholarship to Marshall University, in Huntington, West Virginia after attending prep school in the same State, Handy established herself as an all-round contributor in NCAA basketball, averaging 11.1ppg and 6.5rpg in her senior season when she was third overall in Conference USA in field-goal percentage.
She began an impressive rookie professional season in Greece with Aris in 2010-11, where she also played in EuroCup Women, averaging 9.4 ppg and 5.4 rpg. She completed the season with Slovak team Ruzomberok, helping them to the league’s Final. She moved back to Greece to play for leading team Athinaikos in 2011.

Chantelle attended Prodhoe Community High School in Durham until the age of 16 before deciding to move to the USA to pursue a basketball career. She is the daughter of Raymond and Jacqueline Handy and has one sister Chearlise. Her Olympic idol is 2000 heptathlon gold medallist Denise Lewis.
Having completed a degree in adult fitness, Handy intends to become a physiotherapist after her basketball career.
